My two favorite sports!

American football developed from rugby at the end of 1800. American universities were all play football like rugby, but everyone played by their own rules. They finally agreed to sit together and a common set of rules to be achieved primarily at the instigation of representatives of Harvard University, its standards through code of the English rugby bases.

This has worked well for a while, but then the United States play develops, the most affected and mass as the corner and the players are literally dying in the fields. It got so bad that Teddy Roosevelt threatened to ban the game altogether if better safety measures not taken.

Thus, a down-and-sorting system was designed to eliminate collisions by the possession of any record. Views mass were banned, and strategic moves have begun to replace brute force. Walter Camp has helped the game in a sort of chess game where instead of the vehicles by the opponent and thinking on your feet and try to play a certain script, work your way through the opposition. In the first half of the 20th Century there were some teams experimenting with the forward pass and eventually became part of the game. Helmets and pads have been introduced, because although the game has become civilized, it was still brutally blunt.

That has not changed. In rugby, you can not meet on the shoulders, I can not charge a ball carrier, you can not take if someone is your feet, and you must make sure that the man who rises to the ground safely. A breach of these rules is liable to a penalty or even a visit of 10 minutes in the sin bin. Therefore, rugby players wear no protective gear. You hard, but the violence is controlled. In football, you can almost everything you do to lower a player who just grab the mask or the performance of a horse behind the front of the neck. If you want to start your body like a rocket to the ball carrier is perfectly legal. Therefore it is said that while rugby is a contact sport, football is a collaborationllision sport.

However, some specific examples ...

- Number of players: 11 in soccer, rugby-15th

- Skills: Specializing in football anywhere in rugby. In football in only a great passer, or a good kicker, or a good receiver. In rugby, you need to know how they run, tackle kick, pass and, as they may be asked to do all these things at all times. Football has a separate squad for attack and defense. Rugby players play both sides of the ball.

- Autonomy: Football players play alternately in certain situations. People can come and go freely in the game. In rugby, limited substitutions, and if you leave the game, can not usually go back. Most players play the whole game.

- Flow: Football is a start-stop game. The aim is to cut the ball forward 10 meters at a time to move, and often in small pieces. Once a player is dealt, the game is over and the teams will meet to discuss the next step. In rugby, the action is more fluid. Playback does not start to stop when ThE ball carrier is tackled. However, a struggle for possession.

- Timing: four quarters of 15 minutes of football, with some breaks for the spheres of death, change of possession, penalties and scores. Two halves of 40 minutes in rugby, with the clock, as a rule never stop. The referee is the clock to treat injuries or to stop fighting, and you can add additional time for the first six months of the end.

- Ownership: In football, there are four attempts to get the ball 10 yards. If you do this, you will receive a new set of four experiments. If this is not usually shoot the ball at the opponent in the room below and go to defend their end zone to protect. In rugby, a team can take the ball for an indefinite time, but he denied the possession forward. This is the jerk with the ball is with her. Even after the scoring team, the team scored all usually begins with the opposing team in football. In rugby, just the opposite - the team starts only achieved cons * *.

I do not know all the rules of rugby, but the biggest difference I see is the game is over, and that the forward pass. This is a great football game, but not allowed in rugby.

Another thing I noticed about rugby is that it appears as part of a continuum. There are "play", as in football, where every room has a beginning and an end with breaks in between. Football is also specialized, with specific actors for attack and defense. Now I was wrong in some, and I is not many games of rugby, but what I rememebr to see it.

Not really.
I read in Sports Illustrated, which were directly Rugby Football, as many American students seriously injured or killed playing rugby in the United States, which has become even more brutal than the version Eurupean.
So I have not begun to wear helmets and equipment, and prevent them from blocking the weapons, etc., and the operation of the other.
Then on came by after the game completely changed. A dispute was the first time he has done, but we could not show in the rule book when it was illegal, and American football was born!

In rugby you can not hit the ball further ... You need the ball behind the line that you use. Imagine, rugby, the ball forward ...? That's football, when it happens.

Australian Football is the best! AFL!

You really see the ball in the AFL! AFL is so worthy to be football! Rugby and the NFL should be called handball!

Price .... Football Players United States and Canada are very much more money.
Rugby is more than a blood sport ", so do not need much protection.
That is, they are more difficult ... Only North Americans make more money.
$$$$$$$$$... rule, which is everything.
So the end result is $$$$$$
Think about it ... Would be to buy a new car if you take less money .... is what the world will .....$$$$$

Rugby, there is much softer than football. is not as difficult or physical. Players are broken tailbone and neck bones, gear, so I guess that explains what the helmet. as for the rugby i do not like sport in all its forms

There are too many differences in the document. However, you can see how football is released at least part of the game of rugby.
